A lot of things in our life we take for granted just because it has been there for thousands of years, but what we don’t know is that it all could be gone in the wind in minutes if not in seconds.

Wars have played a major role in human history in the past hundreds of years, changing politics, killing people, creating more orphans, but that is for normal wars. What about a nuclear war? What would be the fate of humankind if the countries with nuclear power declare world war 3, but this time using nuclear bombs. 

A nuclear weapon (bomb), is a deathly destructive force from nuclear reactions, producing a nuclear explosion. So what would happen if a nuclear bomb was thrown in the middle of your country? There are three phases you will go through, let us start with the first phase.

The first phase happens in the matter of the first few seconds when the bomb is exploded, a ball of plasma hotter than the sun appears and grows to a fireball, and everyone and everything in this fireball will evaporate, one second they were here the next second they are wiped like the were never been here. If you are not lucky and you were facing the explosion the second the fireball was made, sorrowfully you will be blinded for a couple of hours due to the enormous light you were exposed to. After the explosion and the ball of plasma, a thermal pulse will be produced, burning everything in the range of 13 km from the site, burning everything that could go on fire, including plastic, hair, and skin. One moment you are having fun with your friends, the next your whole body is on fire.

Before people could swallow what happened the next phase starts, which is also in a couple of seconds. The heat and the radiation that was produced by the fireball creates a bubble of superheated and super compressed air around it, which starts to expand explosively faster than the speed of the sound, creating winds stronger than tornados and hurricanes, buildings within kilometers will be grounded to the base, and trees which was burnt to the ashes will fly by the wind, leaving the city like a ghost city, death smell everywhere with no sign of human trace on it, leading us to the last part of the phase. A mushroom cloud rises in the next few minutes made of the remains of the fire ball, dust and ash, casts a dark shadow on the remains of the ruined city.

Now comes our last phase, which comes in the next few hours after the second phase. Countless people will die due to injuries, even the one with average injury will not survive because there is no hospital or doctors to the rescue, as they have probably died in the first two phases. While survivors are trying to put their mind together about what happened, radiation takes its turn, with every breath survivors are taking to calm their nerves down is a snake in the grass, as by every breath in the air there is poison going towards the lungs, marking their next victim in this nuclear explosion. 

As merciless and unrealistic as it seems this actually happened years ago in Japan in Hiroshima, let us just hope it will never happen again, as they estimate that nuclear bombs these days could wipe down a whole continent not just a country.
